Short version: Argus Inspector does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data or browsing information. The only data stored is two local preferences (theme and toolbar position) that never leave your device.
What we collect
Argus Inspector collects no user data of any kind. Specifically, the extension does not collect:
- Personal information (name, email, location, IP address)
- Browsing history or visited URLs
- Page content (text, images, or any site data)
- User activity (clicks, keystrokes, mouse movements)
- Authentication or financial information
Local preferences
The extension stores two values in chrome.storage.local on your device:
- argus_theme — your preferred toolbar color theme (dark or light)
- argus_placement — your preferred toolbar dock position (left, top, right, or bottom)
These values stay on your device. They are never read by, sent to, or accessible by anyone other than the extension itself.
Permissions explained
Argus Inspector requests the following browser permissions, each used only for the purpose stated:
- activeTab — to check whether the current page is a restricted URL (e.g.
chrome://) before attempting to inject the toolbar.
- scripting — to inject the visual inspector toolbar into the active tab when you click the extension icon.
- storage — to save and restore your theme and dock position preferences locally.
- Access to all sites — the inspector must work on any web page you choose to inspect. No site content is read, copied, or transmitted.
Third parties
Argus Inspector does not share any data with third parties. There are no analytics, tracking scripts, or external network requests of any kind.
Children
This extension does not target or knowingly collect information from children.
